Environment
Here at Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club, we acknowledge our responsibilities as custodians of our course for the club membership of the future. We have an obligation to protect the natural environment on which club members have found so much enjoyment for over 100 years.
The environment is our key asset and we are lucky to have over 120 acres of land within which the golf course itself takes up only a small percentage. As such wildlife can thrive, providing a wonderful backdrop to a round of golf.
Native species noted around the course include buzzards, kestrels, hares and deer as well as many species of smaller birds, insects and fungus. The keener eye or ear will also be aware of grass snakes, woodlark and water voles.

Weather Station installed in late 2023 to allow data driven decision on day to day managment of the golf course. Coupled with investment in the POGO moisture meter we are able to better understand site speciifc rainfall levels, evaporation rates and moisture levels in the greens leading to more effetive watering and use of chemicals/fertilisers. Longer term benefit of water control will help reduce thatch build up and disease prevention which in turn has a positive knock-on effect on fuel usage as less extensive work will need to be carried out year on year. | |
Electric Greens Mower and RTV added to the fleet to reduce consumption of diesel. | 2021/2023 respectively |
